When the familiar textures of sound begin to unravel - becoming distant, distorted, or disappear altogether?
This is the Sound of Snow Falling is a photographic reflection on my progressive hearing loss. Hearing aids, tinnitus, vanishing echoes and altered voices have gradually shifted how I perceive the world around me. Sounds no longer anchor me; instead, I am met with a growing silence.
As hearing retreats, perception transforms. I begin to notice different things: subtle textures, movements, shadows, the way light trembles across a surface. The world becomes quieter, more fragmented; and with it comes a sense of distance: from others, from speech, from what used to feel immediate.
But things I once overlooked begin to speak in new ways.
Fragments held together by stillness.
Observations of a changing everyday life, where connection takes quieter forms.
